Dreaming On operates in the southern islands of Belize, close to the world’s second longest barrier reef, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We can virtually guarantee an island to ourselves overnight, and everywhere we take you to snorkel, you will have the reef to yourselves.

An average temperature of 84 degrees throughout the year and warm water year-round makes this a sailing destination hard to beat.

Welcome to Belize

Belize is the only country in Central America with English as the national language. It is a member of the British Commonwealth, with Queen Elizabeth II as Head of State.

The culture of Belize is a mix of influences and people from Kriol, Maya, East Indian, Garifuna, Mestizo, Mennonites with many other cultures from Chinese to Lebanese.

The currency in Belize is the Belize Dollar. However, US dollars are accepted everywhere at a BZ$2 to US$1 standard rate. No need to exchange money at the bank.

flights to Belize

Direct flights now operate into Belize City International Airport (BZE) from many major US and Canadian cities including from Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, LA, Miami, Minneapolis, Newark Orlando and Toronto.

Alaska Airlines are operating new direct flights from the West Coast including LA and Seattle.

CONNECTING TO PLACENCIA

Traveling from Belize City to Placencia (PLJ) is easy. Regular internal flights are operated by Tropic Air and Maya Island Air. Both operators are reliable and flights connect with arriving international flights.

Flight time to Placencia Airport is about 25 minutes.

drive options

The drive from Belize City to Placencia takes around 3 hours. However, the social distancing and the door to door convenience are great advantages.

Our recommended driver, who has Covid Gold Standard certification, is always there to assist with baggage. His knowledge of the history, culture and nature of Belize is outstanding. He drives a very smart Chevrolet Suburban, so it is a comfortable ride through some great mountain and jungle scenery.

Belize - Land and Sea

Belize has a lot to offer on land and sea. Jungle Lodges in the mountains offer jungle walks, cave tubing, cave jumping, rappelling, or just a great chilled out jungle experience.

And of course there are numerous Mayan historic sites to visit.
